My network marketing story
I always said I would NEVER become a network marketer! I did NOT want to have to talk to my family and friends about my business, knowing that they weren’t really interested. So when my mother’s college friend called to invite me to become a consultant with her company, I quickly made up my mind NOT to even think about her offer. But it was such a good deal…and it was something I loved – digital scrapbooking! So, I joined…but only for the consultant kit.
Well, once I was in network marketing, the idea of turning it into a real business was attractive. So, I thought I would give it a “try”. I hated it – just like I knew I would. I hated calling people, I hated giving presentations, I hated it because no one was interested! No one wanted what I had to offer. I LOVED the products…why didn’t everyone else? I had only been in Network Marketing for just a few months when I stumbled across a free report called “The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing” by Ann Sieg. I was curious, and searching for something better than what I was doing, so I downloaded it and read it, and then went on to read “The Renegade Network Marketer” by Ann Sieg. So, early in my network marketing experience, I began learning more about the kind of business I had gotten myself into and which methods worked and which ones didn’t. It was really a good thing I started this education early, because I really hated trying to find customers! I would NOT have lasted long in network marketing! Learning about internet attraction marketing gave me hope that I COULD build a business without all the pain and suffering that I had thought was necessary in this kind of business. It was a breath of fresh air! So…you’re probably wondering…“What exactly IS attraction marketing?”

What’s wrong with the network marketing methods I’ve been taught?
There are several problems with the current methods many network marketing companies teach for obtaining leads for your business. Network marketers are taught to speak to anyone and everyone, everywhere they go about their “opportunity”. Network marketers are not taught how to determine their target market, but instead they are taught to target everyone in hopes of finding a customer! They are taught to expect rejection. When a prospect says “no” they are taught to make an effort to persuade them. This is ineffective marketing and a waste of precious time! Do you feel like your current methods of marketing your business are not as effective as they could be? Perhaps you have been working your tail off trying to build your business! You have done everything your upline has told you, you have completed all the company training videos and courses, listened to podcasts, attended live webinars and even gone to your company’s training seminars near and far! And what do you have to show for it? A maxed out credit card? You may be beginning to lose hope that you are ever going to make this business work and turn a profit.
What is attraction marketing?
Many people, including myself, come into network marketing without any prior business or marketing experience. We have been told that “anyone can do this” and “the products sell themselves”! But if you really want to be successful in network marketing, you must study marketing! A simple definition for marketing is: the methods or promotional strategy used to meet the needs of the customer with the product or service you are selling. Marketing is NOT the same thing as selling because…
“Selling concerns itself with the tricks and techniques of getting people to exchange their cash for your product. It is not concerned with the values that the exchange is all about. And it does not, as marketing invariably does, view the entire business process as consisting of a tightly integrated effort to discover, create, arouse, and satisfy customer needs.”

Attraction Marketing is a way of allowing the customer to seek YOU out because you offer a product or service that meets their needs or offers a solution to their problem. It is an effective system for attracting people to you and what you have to offer.
How does attraction marketing work?
This all starts with two questions:
# 1 – What are you selling?
This is a specific product or service that you are offering.
# 2 – Who are you selling to?
This is your target market or niche. Be as specific as possible! The narrower your niche, the more effective you will be in reaching that audience.
After you have answered these two questions, the next step is to give your niche market a way to find you and the solutions you offer. This is called your point of contact. When someone in your niche does a google search for what they are looking for, you want them to find your content – articles or videos that you have placed at a variety of locations on the internet. This content is not a sales pitch, but instead simply provides valuable information. Somewhere within that content you give them an action step to take to get more information – a good action step you could lead them to take is to click the link you provide that takes them to your home on the internet.
Your home on the internet is where you provide even more valuable information for FREE. The two best options for your home are a blog or a website, although you could use your profile page on a social network (such as facebook, myspace or a ning site). Here you provide plenty of free information on topics of interest to your niche. You will need to have a contact form in a visible spot on the home page for visitors to give you their name and e-mail in exchange for more free information. This could be a free report, e-mail series or newsletter. By filling out the contact form, the prospect gives you permission to contact them.
After the prospect gives you permission to contact them by giving you their name and e-mail address (and possibly their phone number and or address), you stay in contact with them through your email campaign, newsletter or phone calls. This is when you have the freedom to offer your solution, which is your product or service. By this time, your prospect has gotten to know you, like you and trust you. They are not going to feel “sold to”, or pressured to buy…they will want to buy from YOU!

Attraction marketing works!
You will never have to talk to unwilling friends, family, or random strangers about your network marketing business again, you will never have to call uninterested leads for hours a day again, you will never have to “paper the town” with your company fliers again! Instead, you can effectively use attraction marketing methods to attract customers to yourself. They will contact you first, and they will WANT to talk to YOU! The ineffective methods of promoting your network marketing company are over. As you begin to implement these methods, not only will you begin to see your business grow, but you will be able to lead other network marketers who are discouraged to recognize the problems with the old methods and to embrace the new methods of attraction marketing.
